Playing Charades to Communicate

Christian and Megan Hall minister in the Asia-Pacific region. “For the last three months, we've been in stage one of language study [in which] our focus has been on building our word bank. We have been memorizing nouns, verbs, adjectives and simple common phrases. On July 14th, we [had] our stage one language evaluation. This evaluation will help us determine how we are progressing in our language ability and will also give us some direction as we continue on. If we pass, we will be moving on to stage two where our focus will be on learning basic grammar so we can understand and use full sentences. By the end of this stage, we should be able to communicate in complete thoughts rather than just throwing out a noun and verb and trying to play charades to communicate. Learning a new language and culture is a long process. To be honest, there are days when we're motivated and days when we want to do anything but language study. Thank you for praying for us as we learn. Please continue to pray for motivation as we study.”
