Dave and Judy Wright serve with Ethnos Canada in Saskatchewan, Canada, developing disciple-making resources for both the indigenous people's church and the broader church. Dave writes,
“[March 26] about 40 believers – both indigenous and from the broader church – gathered in a beautiful time of unity around the truth of who God is, the authority of His Word, and the power of the gospel. Those who came were blessed and exposed to some new disciple-making tools – whether a pastor or leader in indigenous churches, an indigenous Bible camp director, pastor to an all-nations or Mennonite church, prison chaplain, director of a prayer ministry, board member to an indigenous mission, or a teacher at an indigenous high school.
Three of our northern disciples taught our first creation lesson and did an AWESOME job – sprinkling the introductory lesson with their impact stories along with a few tears of gratitude. It was powerful to hear them share how their lives have been impacted by the foundational truths of God’s Word – whether it was being introduced to the character of God or the story of the Bible, receiving tools to overcome adversity, change of tone in their home as felt by their husband and children, sharing truth with their husband, moving from a piecemeal reading of God’s Word to a thorough one, or the moving of truth from their head to their heart. Despite this being a first for them, they spoke with confidence and expressed their intention to disciple their own people foundationally. Praise the Lord!
A number asked where they can get these tools and how they can utilize them – whether in their prison ministry, church, camp, mission, etc. One indigenous leader was troubled by his piecemeal reading of God’s Word and his need for foundational teaching. We sought to answer their questions, gave examples, and gave them a free sample of our Who is God booklet and our first discipler book. There will be many conversations in the days ahead. Please pray for God to gather 10 leaders to be discipled through Establish beginning in September. To learn more visit establishseries.com and ethnos.nz/#who-is-god
